All In A Day's Work : F**k the F**kers

The author of the blog is fast wilting. Yes, the cheery Puffy can also encounter bitter days, days when she wish she would just get away from all the mad people around her.
Recently I heard a secondary school graduate commenting straight up to degree holders' faces that the higher level of education you attain, the more arrogant you are and the more you are not flexible and able to bend according to situation. This set me thinking, are we degree holders playing by the book all the time? If yes, is there anything wrong with that? More importantly, i was wondering what are the ill intentions behind such comment by the person?
Generalisation. We may not realise it, but a majority of us like to generalise people's behaviour by categorising them in a particular group. For example, i grew up listening to my family's generalisation that English educated girls tend to be uncouth, speak their minds and too assertive. What is the point of such criticism? Dare we say that ALL people that fall under the category behave in such a way? I came to notice that this may be a way for insecure individuals to erase their feelings of inferiority. The same goes for the individual who first launched the attack about the highly educated people. His comments usually comes after something goes wrong in his department and somehow got found out by others. Thus, he will point out that the 'arrogant high educated' people are out to get him.
Actually, my heart really goes out to him. One day when he is on his death bed, he will look back to these days and wonder how many people he had trampled to get to his position today, how many victims he had backstabbed , used their carcasses to climb to his current ladder in the workplace, how many lies he had to churn out, how many resignation letters he threw to his boss in order to get a raise. My lab partner once told me a witty coincidence. This particular man is the most sickly man in the company. Every week, he either is nursing a cold, a cough, a fever or a fall in the plant. I guess 'God really have eyes' as they say in cantonese.
Long long time ago, a colleague asked me to picture this scenario ; Imagine a group of men all running towards a direction. Suddenly they reach a wall in their path. Without thinking, all of them started climbing the wall together in hope of reaching the other side. All of a sudden, one of the man produced a dagger and started stabbing them in the back one by one till not a single person is left on the wall. Thank you Desmond for that wonderful anecdote.
I guess everyone has their share of hardship at work. When feeling rock bottom, what are the ways to vent our frustration? I have found several methods that may or may not work. My favourite has got to be to hack the object of your frustration to death with the use of a conical flask. Of course you might be convicted of first-degree murder... if you're good, you may be able to convince the judge that the murder is not premeditated and hence get a sentence for manslaughter... haha... i'm only joking. Recently i've been taught that anytime you feel down, take a deep breath before you do anything else. It's amazing how this works wonders. It's been tried and tested by yours truly~ =)

The Cleanest Town in Malaysia

Another photo fest to feed your hungry set of peepers! This is Kuantan, the capital of Pahang, originally a modest fishing village situated in the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia.

A little town mostly famous for its malay food, it is quite surprising that it is beginning to flourish from the benefits of being a tourists' attraction. Come come! Come for the unique flavours of Nasi dagang, keropok lekor, kuih bakar, famous chicken eggy curry puff and GOD FORBID the most famous of them all *drum roll*..... SALTED FISH!!! Ahahaahaha~
For the non-gluttons AKA sight seers haha, you can soak in the natural beauties of the sandy beaches here. Whether it is Teluk Chempedak(the most famous) , Balok beach(the quiet one),Batu Hitam(the one with black rocks) , Taman Gelora (filled with nice lotus plants) or Cherating(houses the world-class Club Med) , they are all special in their own ways and appeal to different groups of tourists. My vote undoubtedly goes to Balok for the serenity of its surroundings.
If those are not your cup of tea, take comfort that various towns are just a stone's throw away. Visit Sungai Lembing to witness the largest tin shaft mine in the whole wide world. Why not drive to Pekan, the royal town of Pahang, and visit the State museum to immerse yourself in a little history lesson? Cross over the border to Berserah in Trengganu to saviour its famous Stuffed Crab and coffee!
Go visit Kuantan today. Uhm, will the Pahang tourism board please pay up for the advertisement now?

Sleepless Nights

The World Cup Season is finally here. This year, the circus travels to Germany where we see the best 32 in the world compete against one another. Currently, the competition is still in its early stages, so the hype is not quite there yet, at least not for me.
One bad thing about this year's tournament is that we soccer fans need to pry our eyes open at ungodly hours for a glimpse of soccer ( or hunk ) action. Boy, was i glad the previous World Cup was held in Asia. This time, the best matches are reserved for the 3 am slot....arrrggghh...
So far, the favourites turned out to be disappointing. Brazil, Holland, England, Germany, France all produced less than thrilling results. Same goes for the world class strikers. Names like Ronaldo, Owen, Zidane, Totti and Trezeguet have been shooting blanks so far. I would've happily added names like Shevchenko and Raul into that list, but DAMN, they scored tonight... But i must say Thierry Henry and Van Nisterooy are not that impressive with one goal apiece either.
I am now anticipating the Holland-Argentina clash on Thursday morning. God bless Lionel Messi!! Hallelujah!
