Manicure and Pedicure

On a weekend my friend just suffered a meniscus tear and hence she couldn't do anything standing or walking!! Therefore, we planned for an afternoon of dining, movies and MANICURE! Look at my freshly done pink nails with shimmering French manicure. Such a pity i have small fingernails so i looked like a little girl with overdone nails!

On the contrary, my friend has such beautiful feminine nails. Hers were perfect and so beautiful after our classic french manicure.

Instead of shimmer on the fingers, she chose to go for shimmer French on her toes instead. Nice right?

Beauty and the Beast Opening Theme

Such a beautiful story, with a beautiful opening theme. I love how sensual the leads sounded in this intro and the music is just absolutely haunting, and encompasses the whole mood of this TV show i used to watch as a kid.

Hanging Out at Helipad

We found this gem of a place which serves alcohol 1-for-1 at a certain hour. This place is also secluded and doesn't have that big a crowd. It's atop the Central Clarke Quay building and is called Helipad.

The reason it's called Helipad is because look closely at the white seat and you'll see a big capital 'H' to mimic a helicopted landing area. This place is open-air and is built on a round building top, hence the name.

Of course, the view is an added bonus. You look directly down at Clarke Quay and all the buzz going on there. Recommended to go on weekends.

Girls love Kronenbourg 1664 beer cos it's easy to drink, not too bitter and is very smooth on the throat. Great buy, since it's 1 for 1....oh yeahhh~

Royal Copenhagen

One of the recommended places to have tea (according to Hungrygowhere.com), is this small cosy place, Royal Copenhagen. After a tiring day, it's nice to retire and have a good cup of tea/coffee with dessert here, with a nice window seat overlooking Orchard Road.

We actually went quite late, about 5-6 pm when the crowd has already started to thin. If you head there at the peak times like 3 pm, you would most likely need to wait in queue.

A nice pot of tea for my friend who is a tea-lover. The pots are nice, but not half as sweet as those from Rose Veranda :(

The rest of us opted for a cup of Royal Copenhagen Coffee. It has a lively flavour and aroma, but could've been better. Truthfully, even TCC's premium brewed coffee beat this hands down. Perhaps i am just not into Danish Coffee?? haha...

The Chocolate Lava Cake : The decadent of sins, chocolate lovers must try! Lovely warm sensational of pure blissfulness accompany by the sweet scent of vanilla ice cream. On top of that, the crisp baked almond crumbs, elaborate with mixed summer berries and lastly, the whirls of raspberry sauce that bound to set you go Ooh-La-La...

Who's Who

Tweet Tweet Tweet! There are so many new pretty ladies in the office. But why are they all fake? Ooh, each one of them represents one girl in a particular group. Wanna know more?

Introducing Andrea. In my lifetime, i've never met anyone sweeter than her, her genetic make up must be sugar, spice and everything nice. She recently shared a 'secret' which she has been hiding for most of her life and is guiding me through my struggle. Patience is a virtue, and Andrea is also the most patient person in the whole of the company! Hands down!!

That's me! Me and my alter ego doll, both eeriely waving hello at you.

Cui Cui - the analytical brain of the group. She is strong and motivated. The only time she needs people to talk to is when she feels like she's being taken for granted by being to accomodating at work. If being accomodating means you are at the losing end and taken advantage of, then why bother being nice? There has been so many instances in our company that whoever shouts the loudest to management will get their way, and we are all strongly against this crazy culture.

Tze Ching the fashion girl of the group! During my hospitalisation, she went to great lengths to come see me all the time and contacting the people whom i want to see during that time. She's a perfectionist who will do everything properly and wants to look presentable each and every time. She's perfect for her job, which requires her to have a good outlook in front of the people we meet. She is always there when anyone of us needs a helping hand, and she's the one to go to for beauty care advice ;)

Sixian - if you don't know her in depth, you probably do not like her straight-in-your-face attitude. But after getting to know her, i find that what you see is what you get, she is a very real person and there is no fake facade hidden at all, which makes friendship with her uncomplicated. Once she is close to you, she will stand by you thick and thin. I hate it when friends don't stand by you and abandons you when they find you are no longer useful or to their liking. I saw another side of her when i was in hospital. She was so caring, adjusting and fluffing my pillows and feeding me my first hospital meal.... hee hee~

Now you see, all of us are like different ends of the personality spectrum, but we get along swimmingly. It's great being in this pentagonal relationship. Thanks~

Mushroom Pot

It was girls' day out for us. After a bout of shopping and foot reflexology, we were all famished and headed to our pre-determined dining place : The Mushroom Pot. We were there specially for its High Tea Buffet which adopts an A'la Carte style.

These were our first orders. From the left clockwise : Wild Mushroom in Thai Spices, Szechuan-Style Shredded Chicken and Vegetarian Ramen. All three dishes wowed us immediately. My recommendations would be the Vegetarian Ramen, which is just a nice small serving with various types of mushroom and chewy noodles. Having a nice ramen broth in an air-conditioning place is comforting. The Wild Mushroom in Thai Spices was heavenly too.

Golden Fried Shitake Mushroom! All the mushrooms were fried to perfection and had an audible crisp as we sunk our teeth into them. Dip into sauce before eating.

On the left is Crispy Beancurd Roll and on the right Stir Fried Squid with Light Chilli Black Bean Sauce. Both dishes were not to my liking. Both were oily and the taste for the beancurd roll was too immense for me. My friends liked it though, so it's more of a personal taste.

Monkey Heads Mushroom in House Dressing. These mushrooms come in shapes like monkey's head, hence the name. They were fried to a nice texture and mixed with a sweet dressing. Very interesting dish, however we wish it came a smaller portion cos it was difficult to finish especially in a buffet environment.

This wasn't part of the buffet but one of my friends love this so we ordered it from the menu. This is deep fried golden mushrooms. Despite high recommendations, i didn't enjoy this dish. I still prefer golden mushrooms cooked in soups, like Bak Kut Teh.

On the left would be the Mushroom Veggie Wrap, ahhh...a very healthy dish. Mushrooms and other healthy goodies are wrapped in popiah wrap to be savoured. On the right is the House Special Beef. It was a tad dry, but tasted pretty alright.

Spinach Egg Roll! Very very nice lah... a very unique idea too. By the time i came to this dish, i was already so stuffed but i still found it to be special. Since the Ramen was so good, we also ordered multiple bowls of it Haha! That's why we were stuffed silly.

Some Sea Coconut dessert to wash everything down :)

G-Force

Wowee, three very beautiful and gorgeous ladies!! Collectively, we are known as the G-Force. Glutton (Andrea), Gullible (Tze Ching) and Genius (Ann). I am so blessed to have them as my allies, so thankful that they are by my side through thick and thin. I trust both of them completely and they have been my guide through some very dark times. In a way, they both have gone through very similar experience in our private lives, I am glad they are my light. Now, we are one department and hence our career paths intertwined as well !

This private little corner is a place we love to call our G-spot, where we derive all the pleasure in our own world without any interference from non G-Force people. Every day, we get our kicks from pulling each other's legs and also complimenting each other on the nice things we wear or do. Three of us, we are all in our own difficult times in our lives, and we tell each other our troubles and everything dissolves with every laughter we take.

Haha, the only time we are ever so meek is in the company of our boss.... heehee...

Da Paolo Gastronomia

Tucked in a row of hidden shops is this delightful shop Da Paolo Gastronomia in Jalan Merah Saga. Actually this is my second visit there, they sell awfully rich and decadent cakes and other goodies like salads, wines etc.

Their cakes come in huge square plastic boxes and we enjoy buying a box and getting 3-4 forks to share among friends. This is one of their best-sellers : Tiramisu. It is soft, creamy and melts in your mouth. One setback though, we all wish the Kahlua taste was stronger...boo...shame on them for scrimping on the alcohol.

Oooh La La...a dark chocolate cupcake. I left this in the fridge overnight and it became rock hard....sad *sniff*

Thank goodness my Vanilla Cupcake had a layer of vanilla icing to keep the muffin below from hardening. Awfully sweet my teeth almost fell out...haha...Wait a minute, doesn't this look like something my dAjie made out of her jumping clay??

This is a slice of humongous chocolate cake i got for my boss (or should i say ex-boss?)....there goes her plan of dieting... poor Cui Cui :D

Amici Italian Restaurant

OK, i'll confess, this is the back alley of the Amici Italian Restaurant. My friend and I went into this restaurant through the back instead of the main entrance...haha...hence this photo made it look like a kopitiam.... :P

We went there fairly early on a week day, so there is no crowd yet. Midway through our meal, we started seeing the white-collar crowd thronging into the cosy place.

Our white wine vongole (clams)....beautifully presented and wonderfully marinated with garlic, spices and white wine. It was such a splendid appetizer, we had a great experience savouring it.

Heehee...we also shared this Squid Ink Spaghetti. The taste wasn't really there, so we added alot of pepper to bring out a little taste. The accompanying fried fish was great though... Amici is quite a nice place to hang out, but just a little dark, i couldn't really see my food.
