Kukup Weekend

After wanting to have a weekend getaway for quite some time, we finally made it by planning a short time in Kukup, near Johor Bahru. We hopped on a bus to JB, followed by a 4-car big group journey to Kukup. It took us about an hour to reach. Kukup is a really small place, so we had no problems getting around.

One of my friends had actually been there the weekend before to recce the places to stay and found this cheap and nice place, but to book this place, you require a minimum of 10 pax. It only costs us SGD 50 per person, which included a room with bathroom, a breakfast, 2 seafood lunch, 1 BBQ dinner, 1 teatime and 1 supper. We also had a common activity room catered for us which included karaoke and mahjong facilities. Quite a bargain, really...

After settling down for a bit, we walked to the restaurant for the lunch provided. After the good and fulfilling meal, we walked around the town. We had initially wanted to take a boat out to visit the 'kelongs' and the neighbouring island, but it was too sunny so we decided to go back to the hotel first. Thank god, cos it rained buckets about an hour later.

Instead of the outdoor activities we had planned, we played cards instead. Meet Stanley, the God of Gambler....this so-called god was holding 4 jokers instead of 4 aces....what a joker...haha...

Here we are.... caught in the act....Later we went down for tea which was provided and promptly came back up to continue our card game.

Time flew quickly and it was already sunset. The sunset scenery was very pretty so i couldn't resist capturing a photo or two.

We had alfresco BBQ dinner by the pier. The post-dinner activity in Kukup was to have some fun with fire crackers and fireworks. The pier next to ours spent a bomb buying those National Day Parade kind of fireworks...and we got to watch without having to jostle with a crowd. Later we went to our activities' room to have some mahjong session and karaoke sessions.

I took this photo from my hotel room window on the day i arrived... the mangrove area was dry and i could see many mudskippers running around...

This is the 'after' photo....which i took the next day....the same area was flooded with seawater...

One group photo before we leave!
