Birthday Celebrations!

It's my birthday and all the good pals brought me out for lunch to Dian Xiao Er near our workplace. After coming back to the office, we had a private celebration.

It's a mixed fruit cake but as usual, we were all just so stuffed by the food during lunch that we did not fully appreciate the yummy cake.

This was one of the last photographs we took as a team before we split into two teams. Looking good, ladies!

A quick photo with all the girls back at the office. All of us are such camera sluts we love posing and having our photographs taken !

Kung Fu Paradise

I simply adore soups served in Paradise Inn, and the business is really growing. They have a theme restaurant in Bedok Point known as KungFu Paradise.

The motto of this place is that it's a 'Cafe with a Kick'. The dishes in the menu are given quirky names associated with fighting and kungfu.

The restaurant is also adorned with cute caricatures of people fighting kungfu.

I was there during tea time and it wasn't crowded at all! I love their Kungfu Master Salad - a fusion mix of East & West greens. Unique on its own or with their special Thai sauce dressing.

Balls on Mash is a very yummy dish cos i love meatballs and mashed potatoes!!!! It consists of homemade beef meatballs with tomato sauce. It is served with mashed potatoes in black pepper sauce.

Strictly Pancakes

I've waited quite long to try out this place, Strictly Pancakes. I'm a huge pancake fan and so far there hasn't been a place really just for pancake, until i heard of Strictly Pancakes and the good reviews it has received. I went on a week day night but still it was very crowded and i had to sit on a seat on the undesirable first floor.

Do beers go with Pancake? Errr....not really....

The lip-smacking Strawberries and Co , a Medium Stack with seasonal mixed berries fresh from the grocer, cream and strawberry coulis served with a scoop of Vanilla ice cream. Pancakes always go best as a dessert!

One of their signature dishes - Garlic Buttered Prawns. It's a Medium Stack served with prawns buttered generously with garlic and cherry tomato salad on the side for an aromatic mouth-watering treat. After one taste, i know why this is their signature dish. It was good!

The Clinic

Ever since this place opened, many have condemned it for its concept. The Clinic in Clarke Quay is a bar which operates with a 'clinic' and 'hospital' kinda concept. So pantang, says the Chinese. I'm not a really superstitious person, but it was really rough getting someone to go with me. I think i finally got there several years after its opening.

What's this hospital drip doing in my cocktail glass??

It's actually my cocktail which came served in a drip package and is blood red in colour. You can either suck the tube by controlling the valve in your mouth, or you can have it drain out into the glass. By the way, did I mention that the cocktail tasted exactly like cough syrup?

As for seating, you can choose to be seated at the wheelchair section, and dining on an operating theater....

or you can pick these hospital beds to sit on! Hahaha....

I Heart KL!

The best things that I enjoyed in KL are here! This photo of the KL Twin Towers was taken after we parked at the road side and walked a bit to the base of the towers. The lights were mesmerizing and the building is just so beautifully litted up.

There's also those wonderful Krispy Kreme donuts in Berjaya Times Square. I love donuts!

What else do I do in KL? Shopping! It was a tiring experience exploring all the shops and bargains in humongous shopping centres dotted all around the city.

When it comes to Malaysian food, i love Penang Laksa!

Something very difficult to find - Roti Jala! The name came from it looking like nets, and i love Roti Jala cos of its tasting like pancake. It must be eaten with either Rendang or Curry.... !

Shopping Kaki (Part 5)

Clementi Mall is a new place just completed. The once crowded Clementi Central area is now an air-conditioned crowded place...haha.... I love the library within cos the books are all brand new! It has many small food kiosk in the basement and larger restaurants on other levels. This place is very convenient, just outside Clementi MRT station.

I only drop by Esplanade Mall whenever i am catching any plays in the Theater. Either that, or when we entertain our customers at the Seafood Restaurants there. This mall is designed to be expensive and is a hang-out place for foreigners. No bargains and shopping opportunity here.

Kallang Leisure Park is a place for sporting adventures. It is large but does not have many boutiques or shops to browse. Instead, it has a large indoor ice rink and a big bowling alley. This place is also designed for the people who have just finished canoeing in the nearby Kallang River and also those on their way to the Indoor Stadium for concert.

Used to be known as Ginza Plaza, it has been transformed into West Coast Plaza. It was once an ulu mall, with out-of-date designs and sad crowds. Now it's a vibrant but not so crowded place for nearby Korean and Japanese expats. It's near our workplace, so we love to come here for birthday and other celebrations. One of the best shops here is the Nike Factory Outlet :)

Suntec City is one of the largest mall in Singapore, boasting a wide floor area. That is also why i frequently get frustrated when i can't find my way. However, after so many years, i finally know my way around, but alas i'm bored with this place although there are so many shops within, it just lacks that friendliness and coziness of other shopping malls.

Han Woo Ri Korean BBQ

Haven't had Korean meal in a while, till Crispy brought me to Han Woo Ri Korean BBQ in Taipan. Thing about Korean meal is that they tend to fill up your whole table with small plates filled with cold food! Just look at all these photos....

Even the garnish and dipping sauce came in so many saucers!

Oooh, I like their spicy cabbage soup. Cos it's the only warm thing at the beginning of the meal, and it's slightly spicy, nice to prepare your stomach for the food to come.

Some cold spinach and kimchi, anyone?

One of the good things about dining in Korean restaurants is that once you finish an appetizer, you can request for the serve staff to refill the saucers. These two are nice....i think they are some sort of fish cakes :)

The dish on the right is pretty special. It has pickled cucumber/carrots wrapped in popiah kinda wrap. It's pretty sour, with all that vinegar, but has a nice crunch to it.

The main star of the day : BBQ Chicken. It is fresh chicken, marinated in Korean spicy sauce. There's a BBQ grill on our table, but we opted for the waiter to help grill on another table so that we don't get all smoky and smelly.

This absolutely HUGE Kimchi pancake!! But it's nice, i'll tell you that. We couldn't finish this and so we packed this home and had its leftover for breakfast the next morning....wahahaha....

Another main star - Hot & Spicy Sam Gyeop Sal or in another words strips of pork belly marinated in Korean spicy sauce. MmmmMMmmm, very tender meat and flavourful sauce. Korean BBQ is best eaten wrap in the green lettuce which is free-flowing.

Lastly, to end the meal, i was told by Crispy that Korean restaurants serve rice tea to help aid your digestion. Well, i'm stuffed silly, yet again.

Fong Lye Taiwanese Restaurant & Beer Garden

Nicely tucked in a corner in Sunway Pyramid is a Taiwan Restaurant, Fong Lye. This place has two birds as the theme of this place. It looks very clean and has pictures on its menu so that you'll know what you want.

We shall start with a cooling glass of Apple Yogurt Juice.  Sourish, refreshing and rejuvenating for our tired souls after our shopping frenzy!

We ordered Taiwan's signature Fried Oyster with Egg. It tasted very much different from the Singapore/ Malaysia style, and the one thing that stood out is that it has so much green vegetable hidden within the omelette itself! While here it is served with chilli sauce, this one is served with a tangy-sweet sauce. We wiped this plate clean at once.

And for the main course, we had Taiwan Steamboat Set Meal (Beef). We shared this and boy, I had a very scrumptious meal. I'm hungry just posting this right now :(

At night, we dropped by at Beer Garden, it is actually a corner terrace house converted into a garden which serves beer with BBQ dishes. You sit on a beach lounge chair while listening to Cantopop and sipping beer at the same time. Ongoing, you'll sniff those nice aroma of BBQ going on nearby.

A bucket of Strongbow Apple Cider for us!

Their La-La is simmered with wine and chilli padi, giving you that extra Oooomphh~ I haven't tasted Lala like this for a long time. They are also big and juicy, you know sometimes you get those that are flat and tiny which are disappointing of course. Not here!

Finally, something to nibble on - BBQ Lamb Chop. It's absolutely a match made in heaven, i mean having beer with BBQ. Their Lamb Chop has a appetizing aroma and the meat was tender.

Ki Yaw wasn't full enough, hence the extra order of Chicken Wing. While it was perfectly cooked, i still like the Lamb better. A suitable place to hang, just to be quiet and let time pass while you idle there :)

Idling on a Hot Day

When i was in KL, the weather was scorching hot, and my sister decided to cool us down by concocting an ice-cold cocktail, designed by herself. Ingredients are fairly simple, just a lemon, a bitter lemon soda and dry gin!

Mix everything into a huge glass, squeeze in the lemon and there you have it!

Until we realise the lemon was sort of preventing us from gulping, so decided to dump it into the cocktail itself. Cheers~
