Gastronomical Tour of Taiwan Part IV

In Kaohsiung, we had our dinner at 六合夜市, which is full of Southern Taiwan flavours. I really love this market, it is open-air and has a nice buzz to it.

After watching 'Corner With Love', i've been wanting to try their 蚵仔煎. However, later i realised that the 蚵仔煎 in Kaohsiung and Taipei are slightly different. This was the first i had, the Kaohsiung style 蚵仔煎. Their sauce is slightly sweet, weird for this type of dish. I prefer the Taipei version.

They have various stalls selling weird stuff that i couldn't identify. Some have fried insects...hmmm...and this one has many types of seafood. Can u spot the pile of dead frogs with their feet pointing to the sky?

Taiwan is famous for the fruit ice. I tried their mango milk ice... it was HEAVENLY....i don't know how they do it, but their shaved ice is really smooth, unlike the coarser version we find here. And they are also very generous with their fruit toppings as well.

I don't know where they get these big squids! It's so huge i don't think i can finish one on my own...

Betel nut is one of Taiwanese's favourite things. Along the roads in the country side, you see many many betel nut tree plantations... apparently the men here love to chew on it... in fact they swear on the fact that it is more potent than coffee when it comes to staying awake...

Look ! Kenny's spotted a BBQ stall... and he's picking his favourite foods to be grilled!
