Despicable Me Minions Mini Movie

I absolutely love the minions from Despicable Me. This is a short video just based on them, chasing after a banana. They are so so so cute, even the way they say 'banana' is captivating. All the clear videos uploaded on Youtube has been taken down by Universal Studios. This is the only one i found.

Jurong Hilltop

In January, after performing appraisal for the team, our supervisor Yvonne treated us G-girls to a lunch just outside Jurong Island at Jurong Hilltop. We had Japanese Teppanyaki, wow that was our showy chef of the afternoon.

The waitress kindly took a photo of the team.

Boss ordered a wide array of meats to satisfy us. First up we had Salmon sashimi and teppanyaki chicken.

We each also had a miso soup, with Teppanyaki Unagi.

The garlic rice sounded like something i would skip, but surprisingly tasted very very good, so i 'kopped' alot from Tze Ching's bowl....haha....

We also had other meats such as beef and pork. As for the vegetables, of course there was grilled mushrooms and bean sprouts. After this meal of teppanyaki, we all left smelling smoky.

The desserts are served at the lounge separate from the hot plates. Two of us had Black Sesame Ice cream, while the other two had Green tea with Red Bean ice creams. YUMMMMMM!

Andrea and I posed for photos while Tze Ching and Yvonne made a trip to the loo.

Just beside the restaurant is a 5-storey tower that overlooks Jurong Island. We made slow walk to the top, at the same time digesting the heavy lunch.

It was drizzling on that day, and the view was not clear, but had a photo taken anywayz...

Steamboat at Home

The family gathers at Dajie's place for a new year eve's steamboat home-cooked dinner. You can see everyone bustling around to prepare the lauk-pauk for the boat. Can you spot the LeLe chive dumplings on the lower left corner?

Hmmm....does sparkling ice wine goes with steamboat?

All the meat are ready for the steamboat. We are like a family of carnivores getting ready to pounce on fresh meat.

Say cheers!

And it's time to enjoy the good food. Yeaaaaaa... we had quite a lot of leftovers. That's the problem with steamboats, people tend to overestimate the amount of food.

What's On My Dressing Table? ( Part 8 )

I have been using the Body Shop bronzer waves as my blusher for on and off. The most memorable this item had for me was during my stay in UK more than a year ago. The climate difference caused the different colour waves to break and fall off in individual wave pieces hahaha. Thank god i brought a spare Rose Blusher....phew...

My Christmas gift last year from Dajie - Paul Frank lip smackers set. Haha...erjie says the Paul Frank monkey looks like me! So far i've only used the Coconut Cream Lip Balm and the Cotton Candy Lip Balm, they smell so yummy. Yet to be opened are my Strawberry Banana lip gloss and Bear's Honey Sweet Lip Gloss.

This Laneige Water Sleeping Pack has been receiving rave reviews since its launch. It comes in a tub and a spatula is given to scoop it out onto your hands, and then to apply it onto the skin before sleep. I use this sleeping mask 2 times a week. I love how it hydrates my skin and the light, watery texture.

My Kiehl's Yerba Mate Tea Lotion helped me through the dry times in Egypt. This facial moisturizing lotion smells like tea and is packed with vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants. So far, i think it has worked well to combat my skin dullness and keeps my face moisturized day and night.

This Skinfood Eggplant Soft Stick Eye Shadow is for lazy people like me, who hate the hassle of getting a tip brush to get your eyeshadow colours and gently applying it onto the eyelids. Just buy several colours of this Eye Shadow pen and start scribbling and you'll have the same effect.... yeeeeahhh....

Ambush at Jurong Point

During our quarterly shopping trip in Jurong Point, we stopped by for a 'shellfish' lunch at Ambush.

This is our Mussels Pot, with air-flown black mussels cooked in Aglio Olio style - with sauteed onion, garlic, chili flake and olive oil. Definitely a two thumbs-up!

Next up : Clams Pot in Thai Basil style , with tomato sauce and tom yam paste. To me, it's a gem of a dish as the gravy-infused clams coms to you with a robust tom yam flavour.

We switched our side dishes of French fries to mashed potatoes. I love mashed potatoes , we simply enjoyed the burst of flavours with every bite we put into our mouths.

The Sausage Platter - with Bockwurst, Chicken Cheese & French Chicken Garlic Sausage, served with sauteed potato, greens and Sauerkraut. Mmmmm.... i love Sauerkraut!

Me and my sister - Crispy....

1-Caramel

On Christmas Day, after gym session, Sixian and I dropped by at 1-Caramel for a spot of tea! Wow, how English..... sipping English tea and nibbling cakes :)

This is my pot of Bain de Rose tea : masterfully blended TWG, this sensual Darjeeling is a magical union of extraordinary roses, hints of vanilla and sweet spices. What's not to like? I adore roses and vanilla!

I wasn't planning on having dinner that night, so i ordered this Creamy Chicken and Corn soup, served with toasted baguette.

Both of us girls shared an order of 1-Caramel 'Assiettes' - a selection of 5 petite desserts.
Top right - Espresso Creme Brulee, the classic French custard infused with Toby's Estate espresso topped with caramelised toffee crust.
Bottom three cakes were so-so, not going to elaborate on them.

This dessert that comes in a tall, martini glass is a zoom-in on the dessert on the left top corner of the Assiates. It is a 'Frozen Deconstructed Strawberry Shortcake' - comes with creamy strawberry ice cream, fresh strawberries, vanilla sponge and flaky caramelised puff pastry.

Christmas Day

Let's see, Christmas last year. On the 23rd Dec, Meijuan and I went to our church for its Christmas play, and we invited Soon Lai to tag along. Soon Lai goes to a church in Bedok and he's been wanting to visit for quite awhile, so he jumped at the opportunity to come with us. Here we were, posing with the church's motto : Go make disciples of all nations, quoting Jesus Christ.

The title of the play was Bag-teria. The play depicts a group of Bagheads, with paper bags on their heads embarking on a journey to a place called 'The End'. This play is a clever in a way that it is a symbolic representation of life itself, and the bags are baggages we carry in this life.

On the eve, I went back to the play again but this time i followed Meijuan to serve as a befriender at the reception.

What's Christmas without a Christmas tree?

On Christmas day, went out for breakfast, and then Sixian brought me as a complimentary guest to her gym to enjoy the cycling machine and sauna.... Yeay.....

Lifestyle Galleries at the Singapore Museum

When i visited the Pompeii exhibition, the entrance ticket includes free entry to the Lifestyle Galleries of the National Museum.

This is my second time to the museum after a major renovation back in 2006. Now it looks ultra modern, slick and efficient. Doesn't look like a museum at all...

There are so many pretty clothes in the Fashion Gallery. Check out these puffy dresses i found. These retro dresses sure rock!

A display of old cosmetics. Spotted a few that i've seen during my growing up years.

Hey, what's Mama's sewing machine doing in the museum??

Lastly, my favourite gallery where the local foods and how they were sold traditionally were shown to visitors.

Pompeii : Life in a Roman Town 79CE

Actually it's always been a dream for me to visit the town in Pompeii in Italy, however i have not realised that dream. Imagine my excitement when the museum organises an exhibition dedicated to the town. Pompeii is a town which was buried alive when Mount Vesuvius erupted. Excavation to the buried and forgotten town unearthed many objects. It was as if the town was paused and discovered thousands of years later, but without signs of life.

These are cast of human corpses which died in the apocalypse. There are also casts of animals and couples holding hands at the moment of death.

This is a picture of an eruption of Mount Vesuvius in modern day.

There are so many items found buried, including household items, furniture and others. But what intrigued me the most are these food items found : Fig, walnut, peach, oyster shells, olives, broad beans and barley grains.

This is a mosaic column. The best and finest examples of mosaic are preserved in Pompeii.

Christmas Eve Lunch

Last Xmas, i had a Christmas Eve Lunch at Jack's Place in West Coast. There was nothing to offer except a fixed menu. The place was crowded and the service was sluggish with amateurish staff. *sigh*

We began our lunch with Light Cream of Seafood. It is nothing extraordinary, just the normal western cream soup.

For the main course, my friend picked the Grilled Steak topped with Tempura Prawns served with potato, vegetables with Tarragon Sauce.

The reason why i was adamant about having a Christmas meal was because i wanted to eat turkey. So i had this Roast Turkey and Chicken Ham served with Chestnut stuffing and gravy. The turkey was great, cos i was dying to have it as a staple for Christmas. However, the chicken ham was nowhere near superb, and was just springy and salty. The whole chestnut taste was pretty special though.

For dessert - Mango Pudding topped with Strawberry and Hot Coffee. Could hardly walk after all these.
