8 Little Rascals

These are my new friends i got from McDonald's. They created a big hoo-ha by creating the 12 Chinese zodiac animals but excluding the pig ( a cupid stood in replacement). Anyways, they've promised to bring the pig to the market in April. These 8 naughty rascals ( 4 couples) are now sitting with me in my office.

My name is INCI (pronounced Inky). I am named after the International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients.... Yes, my master is too absorbed in her work. I am the first and her favourite of all the eight.

Hey there, I am MITI (pronounced as Meaty). I am INCI's partner, with MITI being a Japanese number given to their substances there. I am the only one in the collection with shaggy hair!

Top (monkey) is the cheeky Xabi, his namesake is the ex-Liverpool player Xabi Alonso. The naughty monkey is sitting on the smiley and friendly horse, Dobi.

*twinkle*.... I am the tiger whom master didn't buy, but after the week offering my sales were over, she happened to find a McDonald's still with me in stock! She was so happy and bought me. By the way, my name is Vodka, nice to meet you!

This smiling imbecile is master's 2nd favourite because he is so cheery. His black and white patterns are just too adorable for words and check out that smile. His name is Vanilla, Vodka's partner.

I am 小太陽, the doggie. Master named me after a friend's friend who drives a Nissan Sunny. Haha...

Hey ya all! I am the cutie chick! My name's 大丁. I happen to be doggie's best mate, i am named after master's good friend.

Voltron Opening Theme

Voltron was a cartoon that i watched during my kindergarten days, the ending of every episode was always similar. The 5 individual panthers will always merge to form a robot to defeat the bad guys, but i still watched it faithfully every week.

ȫ My Boss' Wedding ȫ

It was a day we had all been waiting for all these years. There we were, gathered at Peony Jade in Clarke Quay on a Friday afternoon ( it was a public holiday).

The stage was ready.... for the wedding of my boss, Cui Cui! After the longest time of worrying that she may end up an old maid, she finally married Yen Ching ( nickname soya sauce, Momo etc.) We were all very very excited for her, and of course glad that she found the right man.

Girls reunited.... Andrea was able to attend, just under 2 months after giving birth to baby Angelia. Between then, we had seen her a couple of times to visit her and baby, but this time she had shed some pounds since our last encounter. Bravo!!

My girlfriend, Tze Ching! Haha...also Gromit's girlfriend... Her skirt was sooooo short that day. On her way to dinner, she had a 'chee ko pek' uncle staring at her thighs in the MRT.

The bride, the groom and her cute niece, En En.

Say cheese for the camera! I shared a table with the Enterprise Technology girls... And thanks to Cui Cui for giving me her wedding bouquet. It was a nice gesture on her part :)

Eating to my heart's content

There is a newly-opened shopping mall near my eldest sister's working place - Iluma. On the 4th storey there are lots of eating places, and we found this roof-top dining place which was featured in a magazine and decided to try it out. The name of the place is Bounce Restaurant : Chef Daniel's Kitchen.

The overall ambience of the place is cosy and warm, but the waitresses, although polite, need some more training on familiarity with the dishes. There were three of us dining together, so we selected a 'Symphony of Trio', where we could combine three soups. We had, from the left :

a) 'Six Sense' - six mushrooms soup with sage and dash of cream
b) 'Orange Sunset' - mint and orange soup with fish medallion, prawn and mussel
c) 'Boston Clam Chowder' - Old England style clam chowder.

The best one among the three, in our humble opinions, was (a)

This is my friend's Linguine Alfredo ( but cooked in Aglio Olio style). It is served with grilled king prawns. It was tasty, according to the diner...haha...

This is 'Olio Alio', stir-fried pasta with garlic, chilli flakes, olive oil, and served with shaved Parmesan. This was, without doubt, the blemish of the night. All of us agreed that it was tasteless and doesn't even look good to begin with. The poor girl who ordered this did not even care to finish.

This my Black Cod Casino! Don't ask my why, i'm not sure what gambling has to do with this dish. It is gratin of black cod fillet with spicy mayo and steamed clam in white wine. The clams were divine and the black cod fillet very fresh indeed. The greens that were used as the cushion for the codfish were crunchy and yummy. I am still wondering what vegetable it was, it didn't seem familiar to me at all.

To top it all, we had 'Granny Tiramisu' for dessert, shared by three. Adorable presentation, the tiramisu came in what looked like a retro chair....heeehee...

I also ventured to Geylang recently to try its very famous beef kway teow!

Actually, not very nice leh.... the beef was too starchy and there were too much garlic for my liking. My dining companion licked the plate clean, though.... hmmm....

This oyster omelette that we ordered from the opposite shop passed with flying colours though! It came in a hot plate and had so many colours in it, it made my head spin. It was very delicious, though. I would go back to Geylang for this, but not for the beef kway teow...

Dynasty Theme Song

OMG! An old old soap opera...but what a great tune it was...one of the greatest TV tunes i've ever come across. I could remember my family watching this soap opera during the '80s. I didn't quite understand it then, but the tune stuck in my head!

Ichiban Sushi - Agent KK's Choice!

For a lazy Sunday afternoon without the men (except for little Agent KK), we had initially opted for western meal, but last minute request by Agent KK made us detoured to Ichiban Sushi.

Looks like Mummy's tired from rushing from one place to another and doing all the housework.

Chawanmushi is a dish that i will definitely order when i'm in a Japanese restaurant. It is a silky smooth egg custard which is similar to my mom's 'Steamed water egg', which i love but i could never get it quite right. I love how they make the egg sooo smooth it could glide down your throat without chewing on it.

Apparently, Crispy loves having handroll cos i remember the last time she had Ichiban Sushi in Jurong Point, she also ordered one. Not one of my favourite things, though cos i don't really fancy seaweed.

This Crabstick Sushi was why Agent KK brought us there. His favourite sushi...!

We ordered a small plate of soft-shell crab. My two sisters devoured this without me as well. Haha...

What i did have, was this Half-Udon. Thanks to Ichiban Sushi who is so thoughtful towards small-appetite individuals like me, they come out with dishes in half portions, like this. The amount is just right for me, and tasted very good too.

This is Agent KK and his mummy's Misty Moonbeam.

This is the side dish that came with my sister's set meal. This 'Hotate Cheese Yaki' is scallop served on a hot plate topped with cheese. Really good but fattening at the same time. Recommended to take in small portions.

The set meal also came with salmon sashimi and two slices of oranges. The sashimi is fresh, that is the utmost important when enjoying sashimi.

Last Day of the Year!

How did I spend the last day of 2009? Well, we knocked off from work at 3 pm... went to IMM and my friend bought me a new pink Ipod Shuffle to replace the one i lost recently. Then, the four of us rode to Potong Pasir ( at the other end of Singapore). Sixian's parents have generously offered to make us home-made Penang Laksa!!! I have to say that this bowl of Penang Laksa came with the MOST fish....Auntie Xie is such a good cook~ Bravo!!!

As darkness fell, we went to The Coffee Connoisseur to have coffee. Here i am with Tze Ching. It was a matchmaking session as someone brought a guy to introduce to her. He's very humorous and lovable...haha...Whether it works out or not doesn't matter. It never hurts to have an extra friend! As my close friend and confidante, i pray for her happiness and hope that she will find the most ideal person for herself.

Gromit was also hanging out with us!

After coffee, we went to watch Alvin & the Chipmunks II. During dinner at Sixian's place, she played Alvin & the Chipmunks I for us. Not that it really mattered because the stories didn't link. In the 2nd movie, they introduced the female alter ego of the chipmunks - The Chipettes! So cuteee lah....

After the movie, it was already 11.15 pm. We stopped by at Kopitiam for snacks, then rushed to a good spot to countdown to the new year.

We stood at a good spot outside Swissotel the Stamford to view the fireworks from Marina Bay. It lasted for only about 10 minutes...but the atmosphere was cool. After rolling in the new year, we walked to have supper and got home very very early in the morning...haha

Fish Head Steamboat

And it's dinner time once again. Located along North Bridge Road is this place where Fish Head Steamboat is all the rage there. The seats to this restaurant is placed all along the pavement and back alleys. Our table, ironically, was placed right outside the Arabic Muslim school. And there we were, consuming non-halal food.... :S

Poor Kai Kai, dreaming away. I think we waited at least 45 minutes for the food to arrive. We were all famished too! Exerted too much energy at Marina Barrage !

Deep Fried Crayfish is one of the specialty dishes. It was sinful but so good at the same time. It could be their trick at making us wait so long, hence every dish tasted like the yummiest ever.

There's the fish steamboat soup. Their steamboats are heated by charcoal within the pot so it gives the soup a characteristic carbon odour. The fish was very fresh and the soup was fragrant and sweet.

The obligatory dish of green vegetables.

Fried Tofu!! Greasy yet supple and tasty. They managed to balance the taste very well. It also came with sauces for dipping.

Sesame sweet sour pork ribs....hahah....spit a few bones into the school and we'll be detained for racism. We are too civilised to do that anyway.....

Look at the flame coming out from the chimney of the steamboat!

MacGyver Theme

Don't you agree that theme songs from TV series in the '80s are more memorable and catchy than those now? MacGyver has a very in-your-head kinda tune and there's always something sexy about a guy with brains and brawn!
