Army Museum

Another attraction which i have never visited is the Army Museum. This tiny place is tucked somewhere beside the huge Singapore Discovery Centre.

This place is always relaxing , with its serene pond in the centre of all the buildings. Right at the other end you can see little parts of Singapore Discovery Centre. I've been to many great museums in Europe, and the entry is always free. But Singapore's lousy museums always charge me exorbitant fees to see nothing. Well, Army Museum is free entry!!!......if you enter with an NSman lah....

The exhibitions are nicely made, and attractive. However, this place is pretty deserted probably nobody's really interested in this kind of thing.

There aren't many things to display, just lots of articles and historical notes, but there are some eye-opening displays of the old bunks and uniforms. Nothing new for those who have been in the army, but at least it was something fresh for me.

This is the lobby at the other end, displaying their 'Core Values'.

Souperlicious!

One of the most soothing places to have soup for me is Soup Spoon ( i love going to the Fusionpolis branch). Later, came along this copycat version : SOUPerlicious!

SOUPerlicious works in a way such that you buy a set meal. In this set meal comes a free drink and a cookie. Then you get to choose one soup + one wrap/salad. If you choose the medium soup, the other option (wrap/salad) is definitely a large. If you choose large soup, the other option is medium. This is my friend's healthy Medium Mushroom Wrap.

She, just like me, loves Beef Goulash. Hence her choice of a Large bowl! To be honest, it tasted kinda funny, unlike the very impressive version by Soup Spoon.
For me, i opted for a healthy clear Chinese broth ( medium size). The soup came with chunks of goodness like chicken cubes, mushrooms and potatoes.

Will you just look at my large fruit salad? Sure looks mouth-watering right? It is a huge heap of orange, apples, strawberries, raisins and other wonderful fresh fruits. Great for those in need of fiber and losing weight ;)

New Soul - Boo (Monsters Inc.)

Both my sisters have told me that when i was young, i look like Boo from Monster Inc. I found this video all dedicated to Boo. I wonder if the blue and green monsters are Dajie and Erjie? Hahaha....

Best Durian Puff and Best Fried Mushroom

I recently found the best durian puff i've ever eaten! Even better than my mom's (Sorry Mama!) It's a small little Peranakan shop in Joo Chiat which sells nyonya kueh, but of course it specialises in durian puff!

Every time i'm in Joo Chiat, baobei will buy me a box and i will savour at least half of the box ( there are twenty puffs in one box)

Holy cow...i'm salivating just looking at it, cos i'm imagining how it tastes in my mouth, with the fresh durian paste exploding in my mouth and those soft fluffy pastry.....awwwww....

My friend also introduced me to this stall which sells the best fried shittake mushroom in Singapore. I wouldn't normally buy fried food from this kind of place, but i tried out of courtesy and boy, i can tell you i didn't regret it one bit!

They display the un-fried version. After you order, they will dab it dry, toss it into hot oil to be fried. Then, they take it out, and sprinkle Korean chilli powder all over it.

Oh my.... another piece of heaven.... :)

Changi Chapel & Museum

Back to my business of visiting areas of attraction within Singapore. One of the last museums which i have not visited is the Changi Chapel & Museum. Guess why? Cos it's freaking far from home! Ha Ha....

This small little place holds a chapel and a museum to honour those brave people who lived their lives amidst adversity or died a heroic death during the war and Japanese Occupation.

Let's go.....

This is the outdoor chapel with a poignant feel. There were lovely messages written by public on the wall to the fallen people of the war. The museum didn't allow photography, but it documented stories and events during the war. It's a quiet and solemn place to visit, but a different experience to get to know the difficult times of Singapore.

Pu Tien

Together with my sisters, who walked to a new nearby restaurant in Jurong Point on a crowded weekend. This place is pretty renowned for a few of its dishes, and the serving of the dishes has been known to be pretty swift. The place i'm talking about is Pu Tien.

For starters, we had Drunken Cockles. We simply love shellfishes, especially hum! The amount of garlic was ridiculous, but everything was gladly savoured by Crispy Erjie. Dajie and I love the succulent cockles as it was cooked just nice, not too raw not too cooked. The cockles were refrigerated after cooking, so it's cooling texture made it more chewy and juicy.

My sister highly recommended this Braised Pig Intestines, she ordered this whenever she is here. The good thing about Pu Tien is that their servings of appetizers are quite small so you can actually sample more different types without getting too full for your main course.

Ahh....wonderful bamboo clams are one of my favourite shellfishes in this world, though i wouldn't say they look beautiful. This is our Baked Bamboo Clam served on Hot Plate. The bamboo clams are fresh, without any tinge of fishy aroma, and they are kept warm by the bed of salt on the hot plate. Yummmmmmm~

Of course, we cannot miss Pu Tien's signature dish - Fried 'Hing Wa' Bee Hoon. The beehoon is beautifully cooked with bursting flavours and came with generous amount of seafood and vegetables. I've had this three times, and it never fail to disappoint. Recommended!

Lai Lai Beef Noodles

Poor Lai Lai Restaurant, why is there a dizzy cow on the menu? I think it's because this place serves beef noodles!

Me and my sisters find century eggs simply irresistible. The jelly-like texture and powdery yolks just makes you weak in the knees :)

This is my delicious bowl of corn ramen. I am such a sucker for corns, be it on the cob or anything at all. This bowl is very generous where corn is concerned. However, the only downside is that it doesn't contain much of anything else, but if i have the chance to dine there again , i'll probably order the same thing.

And.... these three large bowls all belong to my sisters and nephews. Well, i guess the love for the same type of food runs in the family...wait a minute, does that mean i'm not from the same family?? I have to admit that the beef broth was very very fragrant !

I almost forgot, we also had a small bowl of cold squid appetizer. This was largely left untouched due to interests in all that soupy stuff.... hehe

Tony Roma's Ribs

During my 2nd sister's trip to Singapore, we stopped by at Tony Roma's for PORK ribs! How happy could I be to see ribs when in Malaysia all they ever sell is BEEF ribs? Pah... nothing beats a slab of nice juicy pork ribs...

Thanks to their promotional buy 2 get 1 free mocktails, me and my sisters ended up ordering three glasses of mocktails which tasted like cough syrup and sugar water. Mine was the Funky Munky ( the one with the cherry nearest to the camera), my 2nd sister ordered a Gentle Breeze (the one hidden at the back), and my eldest sis the Shirley Temple.

A pleasant Caesar's Salad to kick off our dinner. The dressing was very sour and the portion big enough for us three to share.

The Appetizer Sampler came with Fire Wings, Potato Skins and Mozzarella Sticks. By the time we wiped this plate clean we were already almost full. I would say this was quite a satisfying dish if you have a party of three or more.

Ahh...our main course of The Original Baby Back Ribs (Regular Slab) with two servings of mashed potatoes.... Wow, fantastic...i love pork ribs and the messiness of eating it. However it was a pity we were already so stuffed so we didn't truly enjoy this as much as we should.

Aqua Boy and Aqua Bear

Agent LL wonders how long he can stay under water holding his breath? 35 secs, 36 secs.....

Ahhhhh.....i can't hold it anyway...how did i do?? Perhaps i broke my old record of 2 hours and 45 seconds?

Oops, the timekeeper Gromit forgot to reset the timer!! I'm going to kill you!

Ah, it's OK.... i forgive you. We're the best of friends :)

Gromit is having loads of fun with his owner at the Jurong West Sports Complex, except that the lifeguards kept giving them dirty looks for wearing footwear near the swimming areas ;(

Knight Rider Opening Theme

Hehe...in the '80s, the TV shows simply love having a narrator pan out the story for viewers. Anyway, back to this show, the automobile looked so slick 20 years ago...now it's so laughable!

Triple Three

It was a very odd Monday afternoon, where four crazy people (three of whom works on shift) took annual leave to enjoy a 1-for-1 buffet at Triple Three in Meritus Mandarin Hotel.

Let's kick off the buffet with some sashimi. It's always Sixian's habit to start off a hearty meal with raw fish.... :P

And it is always my habit to start off with something warm, like a nice bowl of Cream of Corn.

At buffets, always put your food nicely, and eat in small portions but try everything possible.

The buffet is actually below-par in our opinion, but still there were some pretty special stuff. Look at that cheese escargot tart...yummmm....

This is my plate of penne tailored according to my taste and choices...

The best part of the meal is always dessert! I love dessert shooters like this. Oh yeah, even though the buffet was so-so, the ice creams they had were fantastic!! Especially the orange and red bean flavours...

Off next to the movies! Ah...here's the guy who's birthday was just around the corner when we had the buffet. Stanley posed for a photo with me and Marmaduke :)

The three stooges deciding which movie to watch after lunch...
