12th Anniversary

After 4 years not meeting Janita ( she went to Holland to further her studies and is now based in UK), she came back for a short break and we were able to have a 12th anniversary gathering of the gang. We've come a long way and still remain tight. Here's to another 12 years and beyond :)

Tze Ching's Birthday

Wow, this post came almost 2 months after Tze Ching's birthday. Haha...anyway, on her birthday after the lunch out, we had a little private celebration in a secret corner in the office, away from prying eyes due to her preference for privacy.

We got her favourite Tiramisu cake!

All of us took turns to have our photos taken with the birthday gal, who was all radiant and smiley on that day. Her dimples on both sides of her mouth are so adorable right?

Yet another team photo with boss, i still think three of us look more timid in photos with boss than when without her!

Of course, we cannot forget to have a gathering of the FIVESOME.... we were lucky that Sixian was on shift during Tze Ching's birthday so we could have a full gathering~~

Penang Place Restaurant with the PAL Team

It was the day of Tze Ching's birthday. Here we were, getting ready for lunch out with the PAL (Product Applications Lab) Team.

While our boss sat in the front seat with the cab driver, G-girls were happily posing for a threesome toothy grin photo... :D

Our destination for lunch was Penang Place Restaurant, just near our office at the International Business Park in Jurong East. I've been there for lunch before, after one of my courses and i really liked it too, so it was good to be back. Their service is always awesome.

The PAL team comprises of just us three and our boss.

We were all famished, and kicked off our Penang meal with a platter of nyonya kuehs! The fried chempedak was fantastic. Boy it was good, so was the rest of the plate.

All three of us opted for Penang Laksa. They are so generous with their portions, they dumped the whole fish in. The taste was also there, very fragrant and spicy. It was an appetizing bowl and you wouldn't get tired of it.

Boss had Char Kway Teow...hey do you spot the 'see hum' that seemed to have 'tercampak' out of the 'longgok'?

Holy Mama...the chendol was so good. We were so stuffed and still we could fit this into our little bellies. No wonder i'm now sporting a bulging stomach....*sigh*

Coca Restaurant

During early August, there were several reasons for celebration. I decided to treat my ex-boss Cui Cui to a dinner, as a form of gratitude for her help all these years. Also, it was just a week before her birthday, so i lumped the treat into one! We had steamboat at Coca Restaurant.

Since steamboats should be enjoyed by more than two, Tze Ching tagged along too! Haha...

I miss having Cui Cui as my boss, she's easy-come-easy-go, and so good to bully!! Hee hee...

Some mango salad to start off our meal. We were starving, and so waiting for the soup to boil was such a torture!

Look at all the yummy food waiting to go in. They had my favorite see hum too!

The chicken soup goes better with their dishes. Coca is famous for its fish glue, but at the visit, their fish glue was not as good as previously, perhaps the standard has dipped.

Midway through our meal, we changed our soup base to Tom Yam. Not too spicy, just nice. A very enjoyable meal to be savoured with good friends.

And I Move Again...

My old cubicle at the Regulatory Department. The three cubicle walls made me felt trapped and like living in a lonesome bungalow. The air con was so cold on the 2nd floor i had frostbite!

My new cubicle at the Product Applications Lab. Hee...many people have commented that our first floor seats look like voting booths or library reading corner even. I don't spend much time at my desk these days anyway ;) On a lighter note, eventhough i have 'down'graded to the first floor, at least i have a window seat rather than an aisle seat now...haha

TCC

My friends and I love TCC (The Coffee Connoisseur) but it is a little expensive, so in the month of July we were over the moon to discover they offer 1 for 1 main courses. You can order one main course and get another for free! Wahaahahaha.... This is a Frosty Snowball i shared with my friend before our meal.

This is new on the menu : Baked Chicken Thigh With Wholegrain Mustard Sauce. Juicy chicken thigh oven-baked to a succulent tender with a sweetly fragrant wholegrain mustard sauce served with a side of green accompaniment!

The main that came free of charge : Pan-fried Salmon with Citrus White Wine Cream. Fork-tender salmon with a salivating rosy texture dressed with lavish white wine cream and lemon salsa.

We were so happy with our meal that after our movie that night, we went back for dinner at TCC again!! This time we both decided to go for their pasta instead. This is my Bolognese Spaghetti.

And my friend's Aglio Olio. Sheesh, now that the special offer is over, don't think we'll be back for quite some time :(

De Ste Confectionary

This small little hut is actually a confectionery house selling cakes, coffees and desserts in 313@Somerset. We've been dying to try it out, but have been rather put off by the alfresco seating only, so we waited till the weather was cool before deciding to give it a chance.

This place is called De Ste Confectionary.

Eventhough it was all outdoor dining, they still hung pretty pictures on the walls and had nice chairs and tables. The waitresses were ready with a broad smile and was eager to help too~

The Coppa Exotic consists of mango sherbet, passion fruit sherbet, passion mousse and caramel coulis. Don't order this if you have low tolerance towards sourness. The mango and passion fruit sherbet were really sour!! But the good thing is that you wouldn't feel bloated even after downing such a sizable amount.

The soft and fluffy tiramisu cake that came nicely decorated. Looks a bit like cow dung though huh?

My Favourite Things...GONE!!

Sad for me, things that i like are always not well-received by the main public. Consequence is that those special things are either being discontinued or go bust. Haha...here is just a small list of my favourite things gone from the shelf now :

Mr Bean sells a whole series of pancakes. Recently they introduced two new flavours Egg Mayo and Caramel Custard, but they took away my favourite Blueberry!! So sad....

I love the Rose Juliet coffee from TCC. It is made by adding Rose Syrup to ice latte and a rose petal is garnished on top of the rich whipped cream. After they revamped their menu in July, they no longer serve this great concoction.

I never liked peppermint tastes, so imagine my joy when Colgate introduced the Propolis line. I love it eventhough it looked like mucus from the nostrils. After a short period, this Propolis toothpaste was taken off shelves in Singapore due to poor sales. I still get mine from Malaysia, thank goodness!

My favourite flavour of Coke is Vanilla Coke, introduced as a limited edition here. Now no longer on sale ;(

Taco Bell was one of the fast-food chains that i actually enjoyed, but alas the union didn't last long and they went bust. I heard they still have one outlet somewhere, but i no longer bother to travel to eat it.

I was searching high and low for this in NTUC Fairprice, Giant, Carrefour and Cold Storage until i realised this has been replaced by Quaker's new Wheat Bran in a maroon box....gahhhhhhhh....how frustrating.

During my university days, our sponsor for the orientation sent crates of this Heaven and Earth Mandarin Orange tea for us to enjoy and i grew to like it. I also love their Orchid Tea, but now no longer can be found. I wonder what happened?

Eating Here and There

Some of the random eats i've had. This is a lunch order in office which i've never seen before i came to Singapore. It's Hakka Lui Cha, a vegetarian dish which is as green as anything comes. This is what it looks like before you dump the gravy in.

And this is the gravy. We have always found it too salty so we'll normally add some hot water, give it a good stir and pour it nice and gently onto the rice.

Lastly, sprinkle some peanuts on top for that added crunch. Wow...healthy huh?

Oooh my...yummy Tendorloin with Capsicum on Mashed Potatoes. I love mashed potatoes, this one was especially creamy and smooth it glided down my throat.

My friend went with variety and ordered the Mix Grill instead. I was so hungry my hands were shaking. Sorry for the blurred pic :)
