Girl's Sunday

Apart from making brownies, we also meddled around with butter cookies. The recipe says Nutty Cookies, but we decided to stick with Chocolate Chip Butter Cookies.

Add sugar and butter and mix them together till the colour and texture turns light and fluffy.

Add in sifted flour and corn flour

Throw in the chocolate chips and mix till they are all over the place.

Keep the dough into the freezer for about an hour. Get them out later and shape them into small balls and bake.

This is what the cookie turned out to look like. Now, where's my best bud, Cookie Monster when i need him?

After all that hard work , it's time for our own dinner. Since the oven was already warm, don't waste the residual heat. We popped two frozen pizzas into it.

Meanwhile, we prepared an appetizer before enjoying the pizza. One of us cut the beancurd and century egg, while the other blends the sauce.

Time to enjoy our dinner + DVD...Ta-ta....

Scoring Brownie Points

One fine weekend, i packed my bags and headed to a land i've never been to : Potong Pasir . My colleague's parents were away in Hong Kong and so she invited me over for a girl's baking afternoon ( after our successful sleepover pyjamas party in the past ).

She is a career-nut...purchasing a balance that strongly resembles those kind we use in our labs. Anyway, contrary to our lab roles, in her home she was the one instructing me to weigh the baking powder.

Here's the chocolate block she had gotten ready for our brownie.

Put chocolate block and butter into a bowl and melt in the microwave oven.

Stir well to ensure that they've melted well. Mix sugar in and continue stirring. Giving it a James Bond twist, i like my brownies stirred, not shaken.... *lame*

The alcoholic in me is working up again....just a dash of Kahlua into the mixture....muahahaha... Oh, and we also added 4 eggs.

One of us add sifted flour into the bowl while the other stirs furiously as the mixture gets more and more coagulated.

Next, pour the mixture into the tray and sprinkle some chocolate pastilles onto the surface.

Now, we bake and we wait while the heavenly scents start to emanate from the convection oven.

Looks a little wrinkled but pretty good huh?

Cookie Monster Gobbles Up The 'Letter of the Day'

This is a Sesame Street clip from its early days. You can see here that Kermit and Cookie Monster looked slightly different from the one you see in the 80's, 90's and the noughties. The idea behind this clip is really brilliant though, but i wished Cookie Monster had more lines! Haha... Is it just me, or did Cookie Monster look as if he had a cleft lip?

7 - 1 Meal

Here's a wonderful dinner i'd like to call the 7-1 meal, due to us ordering 2 dinner sets for 4 persons each but with only 7 people eating. We stuffed ourselves silly to the point of almost throwing up. My appetite was only so-so that night, so i drew alot of flak from the herd... haha... This was in Holland Village, by the way.

Our WHOLE Peking duck...before it was cut into smaller pieces for us.

Some keropoks to get our appetites going...

This is the three-variety meat dish - it came with white steamed chicken, roast pork and char siew. The char siew was a little tough to chew on but apart from that, a pretty decent start to our dinner.

Sweet Sour Pork~ I love everything about sweet sour pork, with its brightly coloured capsicums, pineapples and tomatoes. Of course, i also enjoy biting into those crunchy, bite-size pork cubes.

Egg plant....yuck. According to my friends who tasted this, it was one of the better dishes of the night. Good for them, then.

Several bowls of watercress soup to clear some of the oil we've consumed. This drew mixed review from our table, with half of us commenting that it was 'just nice', while the other half said it was 'too salty'.

Finally our Peking duck has been sliced into small pieces and wrapped into this lovely looking dish. Great presentation but i wished the wraps had been more moist. I think the waitress took too long to slice the duck to the point that the wraps were left in the open for more than optimum.

The name of this dish : Steamed Freshwater Fish & beancurd in special spicy sauce. I have always enjoyed eating freshwater fish eventhough it meant putting up with their characteristic muddy taste. This fish was undoubtedly fresh and the sauce appetizing.

Our other fish, a saltwater fish which had been fried... a direct contrast from the previous fish.

Yummy~ More soup for me....Braised Shark's Fin with shredded Premium Sea Cucumber , Fish Maw, Bamboo's pith and Pig's Tendon. Before it was served, fresh crunchy beansprouts were added to give the soup some crunch.

What's the weird looking mess? The menu said it was Stewed Duck with Bittergourd. I gave this dish a miss because by this point, i was already at my absolute breaking limit.

Our last main-course was King Prawn in Portuguese Style with Deep Fried Noodle. I also gave this a miss, and had the Red Bean Soup for dessert. Can you believe that right after this meal, the gang went to a dessert place for tiramisu? *gag*

How To Exercise During a Heatwave

During the heatwave from April to August, here are some suggestions on how to exercise indoors in the cool environment. Agent LL demonstrates by exercising pet QQ!

Some are worse than others. Instead of exercising real pets, they exercise virtual pets!

The culprits are discovered but to hide their identity, we decided to take a picture of their posterior.

What about exercising in the comfort of an air-conditioned place. Bowling's a good alternative.

Puffyrazzi has a better suggestion : ICE-SKATING! 'Coolest' exercise you can get in hot Singapore.

OMG, i'm freezing after 10 minutes!

What? Who? Where?

Where is this? Seems like my family + photographer Crispy went for a meal at Seri Mahkota in Kuantan. Here are the pics she shared with me, and she always reminds me that i must acknowledge that here...haha...Pictures brought to you by Crispy Wee.

Actually i didn't go for the meal, so i'm waiting for Crispy to fill in this blog entry for me. This is green veggie.

Is this chicken?

Looks like salted egg crab... or is it not?

A huge lumpy dish that came in a big claypot.

Fishy stuff still boiling over....

Oh god, i'm lousy at blogging about things i don't know about.....Crispy, please fill in the names of the dish in the comment area =P

Agent LL and Agent KK's Food Escapade

Hey there. Agent LL reporting from the headquarters. My brother and I have been busy feeding ourselves after undergoing our strenuous training regime. This is my successful Apple Crumble, which i made with assistance from my grandmother.

The Apple Crumble was used as a birthday cake for my daddy!

Of course, as agents, we need to watch our diet. I shall make some home-made juice to detoxify all the bad things in our body. Some apple to go into the juicer....

Carrot-apple juice!

I wonder if purple dragon fruit will turn out nice. The colour sure is attractive!

Look what i found! A hot dog!

While i was busy looking at hot dogs, Agent KK has gone on to better things, namely durians and mangosteens!

Puffy is a True-Blue Pom!

These two videos i plucked from Youtube depict the type of behaviour Puffy adopts as well. The first is a video of a Pom listening to its master speaking. Puffy also does the same actions!

The second video is a hyper-active Pom running like a mad dog about the house. Puffy used to do the same when she was a puppy, except she was faster and madder! Hahaha....

Agent LL's Physical Training Regime

I, Agent LL, decided that since i'm getting a little fatter, i resolve to lose all this weight by undergoing the most rigid training regime ever. Wish me luck, all my fans =)

I will start by watering these big, round, bushy plants. Look at how low i'm bending my waist. This helps burn the fats around the tummy area.

Bonsai needs watering as well. This requires my full concentration and hence, the perfect training for the mind. -FOCUS- -FOCUS-

Cactus also needs watering???? This is the finger obstacle course, as i maneuver my nimble fingers to avoid the thorns.

Agent KK is getting flabby as well, so i roped him in to join me. C'mon, let's clean up our MIB3-mobile.

Make sure the logo is clean, so that we don't lose face when we show up in front of the enemy.

This is our back-up mobile... same thing here....make sure the logo is clean so that we don't pai-seh. Oooi, Agent KK, what are you doing over there? Don't slack hor...!
