Asian Civilisations Museum

After all that eating, probably it's time to get cultured! Oh yeah... i love museums but there are only so many you can find in a country with a limited amount of history to her name.

.

This is the Asian Civilisations Museum, situated at Empress Place, just within walking distance from Raffles Place MRT. It preserves the many artifacts and documents that were essential in characterising Asia what it is today.

I'm now at the main entrance...the special exhibition for the period is the Kangxi Emperor exhibition, but photography is not allowed in the special exhibition area. It is only permitted in general exhibition areas.

The interior of the building is tastefully done, very elegant and fitting for such a museum. The ambience just puts you at ease while soaking in all the information in the museum.

Test tube holder or opium pipe holder?

This gallery tracks the history of Cambodia and Vietnam. The many statues and artifacts gives visitors glimpses of the two historically-rich countries.

The quirky signs are put in places where changes are still in progress. Very clever and cute~

The main door to the Indian Civilisation Gallery....

A full collection of Malay traditional instruments with wayang kulit on the screen.

The museum was full of visitors from all sorts of background and nationalities, but sadly i didn't see many locals in there. Probably they are more interested in the several new malls that had just opened in different parts of the city....duh~
