Hot Air Ballooning in Luxor

On the day we visited Edfu, we went back to the boat, and sailed for the rest of the day, passing by Esna Lock on the way. We arrived in Luxor late at night. The next morning, we left the cruise at 5.30 am to join a hot air balloon excursion at 7 am on the West Bank of Nile River.

Our balloon took about 30 minutes to prepare. It was a cold morning, about 20 deg C, but the moment they lighted up the fire, we felt all warm and fuzzy!

Prepare for flight, comrades!

I wasn't aware that pilots for hot air balloon wear such smart uniforms and had to undergo strict flying lessons to obtain their license. Our pilot speaks good English too as he introduced the view below.

On the horizon, we could see other hot air balloons up in the air, and right down below are agricultural fields by the Nile.

We had a nice mix of view of greenery and rocky mountains. It was a memorable feeling, to be able to enjoy this incomparable view. Not for those who fear height, cos you are really open up there, with the wind blowing and the dizzying height up there.
