Marina Barrage with the Family

The Wee sisters paid a visit to Marina Barrage during erjie's visit to Singapore. This is a dam built across the Marina Channel between Marina East and South. The purpose of this dam is to increase the water catchment area in Singapore.

Besides its purpose, Marina Barrage also serves as a visiting place for many locals. Lovers come here for a stroll, families come here for family outings.

The Marina Barrage overlooks Singapore city outline. Look at Donavon spinning the Singapore Flyer! Haha....

When we visited, it was just before dusk and it wasn't too sunny for a good walk with the family.

From the central foyer, you can see the new Integrated Resort coming up nicely. It's the building that looks like a set of joss-stick at the horizon. Talk about bad feng shui!

Aunty and nephew were obviously enjoying themselves, judging from the wide grins.

Atop the building is a large grass area where many locals come for a small picnic and to fly kite. It was very crowded that weekend with throngs of people flying their kites at the same time. A little dangerous but these people were enjoying themselves.

Just before leaving, the lights came on in the city. The Singapore Flyer was decorated with green lights which made it look like there is a large Christmas tree attached to it.

There is a small exhibition at the Marina Barrage to educate the masses about Energy Conservation. We had a small tour and rounded up our trip to Marina Barrage. Where to next? Eat of course!!
